How to Get Superglue Off Fingers & Clothes
- 1). Apply a small amount of acetone or acetone-based nail polish remover to one cotton end of a Q-tip.
- 2). Place the saturated cotton end of the Q-tip against the glue that is bonding or adhering to the skin. Let the acetone soak into the glue and then gently peel the bonded skin parts away from each other until they separate naturally. Do not use too much pressure. If the glue is just adhering to the skin and not bonding it to adjacent skin, just rub the Q-tip onto the hardened glue until it dissolves.
- 3). Wash the skin thoroughly with soap and water. Apply hand lotion to the treated area.
- 1). Test the affected clothing for colorfastness by applying a drop of acetone to a hidden seam and rubbing it with a white cloth to make sure dye does not come off. If dye does come off, take your stained clothing to a dry cleaner or professional laundry as soon as possible before the glue hardens any further.
- 2). Apply acetone to the glue stain or the bonded fabric of your clothing. Rub the acetone into the glue with an old toothbrush, starting from the outside of the fabric and continuing from the inside.
- 3). Repeat several times until you remove as much of the glue as possible.
- 4). Wash the affected clothing according to the fabric care label before wearing it again.
