How to Remove Dielectric Grease

    • 1). Pour some isopropyl rubbing alcohol into a small cup. You only need a small amount of alcohol depending on the size of the connectors you are cleaning.

    • 2). Dip a cotton swab into the alcohol and rub the pins of the connector with the swab. The alcohol lifts up the initial amount of dielectric grease. Dip the opposite end of the swab into the alcohol and clean out the socket of the connector. When cleaning, use a clean end of a cotton swab each time you dip into the alcohol.

    • 3). Cut the bristles of an artist paintbrush in half with a pair of household scissors. This makes the bristles more rigid. Dip the paintbrush into the alcohol and use it to scrub the connector pins and the connector socket. The alcohol dissolves any remaining dielectric grease and evaporates.
