Place a thick layer of paper towels over the site of the pet stain on your carpet. Put a thick layer of newspaper on top of the paper towels, then stand on the entire pile to wick up moisture from the carpet. Change paper towels and newspapers, as needed, discarding the soiled ones in a trash bag and replacing with fresh until you've transferred as much of the stain liquid to the papers as possible. - 3). Cover the area with a pet enzymatic cleaner in powdered form. Allow the enzyme cleaner to sit on the carpet for 20 minutes to absorb the rest of the stain as well as odor-causing bacteria. If the enzyme cleaner is soaked after 20 minutes, vacuum it up and replace with a fresh pile of enzyme cleaner.

Leave the enzyme cleaner on the stained carpet for at least one hour. Vacuum the carpet to remove the cleaner. - 5). Combine 1/4 cup white vinegar and 1/2 tsp. liquid dishwasher detergent in a bowl. Use detergent for your dishwasher, not hand dish washing detergent. Mix the two ingredients with a spoon.
- 6). Sponge the vinegar and dishwasher detergent solution onto the pet-stained carpet. Work from the outside of the stain in toward the middle and scrub gently. Rinse the sponge frequently then scrub the carpet again with more detergent solution.
- 7). Dampen a clean cloth with plain water. Blot at the site of the pet stain to lift the vinegar and detergent cleanser, as well as the remaining stain. Frequently rinse the cloth with fresh water and continue to rinse the carpet until all cleanser and stain have been removed.
- 8). Remove as much moisture from the carpet as possible with a wet vacuum. Move the vacuum back and forth over the spot where the pet stain was removed to draw up the moisture. Allow your carpet to air dry fully.
