How to Clean a Fading Taylor Ebony Fretboard

    • 1). Remove the guitar strings so you can access the fretboard without touching the strings. This will let you thoroughly clean the fretboard.

    • 2). Wipe a dry cloth over the fretboard to remove dry dirt and debris. Once dry and loose, debris gets wet it will be harder to remove. This steps saves time and energy.

    • 3). Soak the clean cloth in clear water and rinse it out. Wring it out as much as possible so that it is just slightly damp.

    • 4). Rub the cloth over the fretboard to remove any other caked dirt.

    • 5). Immediately dry the fretboard with another dry cloth. Never leave any part of a guitar wet for very long because it could damage the wood.

    • 6). Rub any other stains with dry, superfine steel wool until they are gone. Rub along the grain of wood, but be careful not to touch the guitar's body.
