How to Use Dish Detergents in the Garden
- 1). Fill a gallon container with water.
- 2). Using a measuring spoon measure 2 tablespoons dishwashing soap into the water and swirl to mix. This solution is good for flower beds, foliage and flowering plants. Woody plants like shrubs or roses benefit from a mixture of 3 tablespoons to a gallon of water.
- 3). Pour the solution into a spray bottle. Spray plants evenly making sure to get the undersides of the plants as well as the top. Make sure the leaves are wet with the solution.
- 4). Rinse the solution off with a garden hose after a few hours especially when the temperatures are hot to prevent burning the plant.
- 5). Reapply every few days for best results.
