How To Remove Orange Juice Stains From Clothes
Whether you enjoy drinking fresh orange juice or using it in a recipe like Spicy Orange Shrimp, learn how to remove the stains from clothes.
Fresh orange juice seldom leaves a much of a stain on fabric right away but some concentrates and orange flavored drinks contain extra dye. It is also a bad idea to leave the fresh juice stain on clothing for too long. Orange juice contains acetic acid which acts as a bleaching agent, especially when exposed to sunlight.
Flush the area with clean water as soon as possible and then wash as usual. If a stain remains (that dreaded extra dye), mix a solution of cool water and oxygen-based bleach and soak for at least one hour and then rewash. Do not place a stained garment in the dryer because the high heat will set the stain.
If the garment is dry clean only, blot the stain with a clean, white cloth. When you arrive at your cleaner, point out and identify the stain to your professional cleaner. If you are using a home dry cleaning kit, be sure to treat the stain with the provided stain remover before putting the garment in the dryer bag.
