The Best Way to Clean & Shine Floor Tile

Ceramic Tile

• 1). Mix 1 cup of powdered oxygen bleach with 2 gallons of warm water in a large bucket. Begin spreading this over areas of the ceramic tile floor using a medium-bristle scrub brush.
  
  
• 2). Work in small areas and let each area sit and soak for about five minutes. Scrub the grout areas gently so as not to damage them.
  
  
• 3). Rinse the floor well with cool water. Let the floor dry.
  
  
• 4). Apply a ceramic tile wax product using a damp mop. Squeeze a small amount onto the surface of the tile and wet mop it on in a thin, even layer. Allow the floor to dry for three or four hours.
  
  

Vinyl or Linoleum Tile

• 1). Strip the old wax off the floor by mixing 1 cup of laundry detergent, 1/2 cup ammonia and 1 gallon of warm water in a large bucket. Apply the solution to the floor using the scrub brush.
  
  
• 2). Let the ammonia and water sit on the floor for about 30 minutes. Pull up the solution using a wet/dry vacuum cleaner.
  
  
• 3). Rinse the floor with water. Mix 1 cup of white vinegar and 1 gallon of water. Mop the entire floor with this and rinse with water.
  
  
• 4). Apply a light layer of vinyl floor wax product using a damp mop. Let the floor dry for two to four hours before using.
