How to Clean a Hottub Filter

104 4
    • 1). Locate the filter on the hot tub (it will be in the concrete surrounding the tub adjacent to the sprayer on the inside). Remove the existing filter in the hot tub by manually lifting off the cover in the concrete and then pulling on the filter itself. Replace it with the spare. Inspect the existing filter. Remove and discard large bits of debris or build up manually. Spray the filter with a hose on both sides to remove the remnants of smaller build up.

    • 2). Fill up the bucket with one part bleach to 10 parts warm water. Place the filter into the solution and let sit for up to 24 hours. After the filter has soaked, remove and inspect it. Soak once more if there are still bits of debris or particles in the inner grating. If no particles are apparent in the grating of the filter, it is clean.

    • 3). Rinse the filter off when cleaned to remove the excess bleach. Set the filter in a clean dry place. Wait at least two weeks, but no more than one month, and switch the now clean filter with the spare. Clean the spare in the same method and repeat.
