How to Make Your Own 4x5.5 Tri-Fold Shutter Cards
- 1). Cut a piece of cardstock to 12 inches by 5 1/2 inches. Set the paper on your work surface and score between the long sides at 2 inches, 4 inches, 8 inches and 10 inches from the left. This is your card base.
- 2). Fold the card base at the score lines. Fold in a zigzag fashion, like an accordion, with the first fold going forward and the next backward. Unfold and lay the paper flat again.
- 3). Measure 2 inches from the top and 2 inches from the bottom of the first and last scored lines from the left of the card base. Use a straight edge and craft knife to cut straight across between the two top points and the two bottom points. Your base card now has three strips, each 2 inches wide, with a 2 inch border around it.
- 4). Reverse the folds in the center strip of the base card. Fold the card so that each scored fold on each strip bends accordingly. The center strip folds opposite the top and bottom strips.
- 5). Glue scrap book paper, photographs or other embellishment to each section of the card base. The card, once folded, has two side borders that are 2 inches wide each and the center sections are folded into smaller rectangles, each of which can be decorated separately.
