- 1). Turn on your computer and computer scanner. Open the scanner cover. Place a sport's photograph face down in the upper left hand on the scanner glass. Close the scanner cover. Scan the photograph into your computer. Save the image on the computer.
- 2). Open the image in desktop publishing design software, such as Adobe InDesign CS5 or Print Shop 23 Deluxe, on your computer. Follow the step-by-step prompts in the software to crop the photo to the 2.5-by-3.5 inch traditional sportflics card dimensions. Import graphics -- a baseball or a glove, for example -- to boost the creativity of the card border. Write the player name, team name and player's number into text boxes. Click and drag the team name to the top of the card. Click and drag the player's name and number to the bottom of the card. Do not place graphics or text over the image of the player.
- 3). Turn on the computer printer. Insert a sheet of 8.5-by-11 inch cardstock into the printer. Click on "File" in the main menu. Click "Print." Cut off excess cardstock trimming with scissors.
