Black & White Origami Instructions

Pinwheel

• 1). Place the black and white origami paper on a flat, smooth surface so the bottom edge is on a horizontal axis. It does not matter which side of the paper is up. Try both to see the difference in the appearance of the pinwheel.
  
  
• 2). Match the right and left sides. Crease the fold firmly. Open the fold. Repeat the process with the top and bottom edges.
  
  
• 3). Fold the left edge to the middle crease line. Crease firmly along the fold. Do not open. Repeat the process with the right edge. Match the top edge to the center horizontal fold. Crease the fold firmly. Do not open. Repeat the process with the bottom edge.
  
  
• 4). Fold the top left corner down and match it with the bottom right-hand corner. Crease the fold firmly. Open the fold. Repeat the process with the top right-hand corner and bottom left-hand corner.
  
  
• 5). Open the top and bottom edge folds. Keep the right- and left-hand edges folded. Notice the triangles that are formed along the left and right edges with the fold lines. Fold the left-hand corner in and down along the first horizontal crease line and the crease line that forms the triangle. A point is formed. Crease the fold firmly. Notice there are two layers to the point. Fold the top layer down and crease firmly. Repeat the process with the remaining three corners.
  
  
• 6). Open all folds on the left-hand side of the black and white pinwheel. Pick up the folded paper on the right-hand fold. Position your hand just below the point of the first triangle along the top edge. Fold the top of the paper down along the horizontal line. The paper will fold automatically along the diagonal crease line to the right to form a point. Turn the pinwheel 90 degrees and repeat the fold for the remaining three points.
