- 1). Thread the U-wire needle, but do not tie a knot into the end, as you want the end of the thread to disappear into the furniture's exterior.
- 2). Insert the tip of the needle into the fabric and bring it back into the front side. Run the thread through until the end is inside the fabric. Run three more stitches over the same place without adding much pressure. This will lock the thread in place.
- 3). Run the stitch as needed for the project. Do not tie off at the end, instead backstitch 3 stitches. The length of your stitch depends upon the tension and strain the fabric will have. For instance, a simple patch on the back of a couch will not require as close of stitching as a patch on the seat cushion.
