- 1). Cut various pieces of colorful construction paper or card stock into different sizes of hearts. If you are unsure of how to cut a heart freehand, use a heart-shaped stencil and a pencil to create a perfect heart outline before cutting the paper.
- 2). Find an old newspaper and cut smaller hearts (than your construction paper or card stock hearts) from the newspaper, including random words and stories in each newspaper heart.
- 3). Glue the smaller newspaper hearts on top of your card stock and construction paper hearts, centering them inside the hearts and leaving an outline of a colorful heart on each design.
- 4). Use a hole punch to punch a hole in each heart near the top on either the right or left.
- 5). Insert and tie a piece of colorful ribbon into a bow using the hole punched in each heart. Alternatively, use the ribbon to tie the paper heart to a door handle or another decoration in your home.
