Finally there is a solution to confusing wifi home theater setup. Today Samsung announced the release of a new wireless router that is maximized for home theater and can auto-configure using Samsung's One Foot Connection.

Samsung's patent-pending One Foot Connection works with its new line of Smart TVs, network Blu-ray Disc players and Home Theater receivers and eliminates the confusion and hassle of setting up a network connection to a network.

Simply place the router within one foot of the device during initial setup, and it will automatically configure the device to connect wirelessly to the router.  There is no need to setup router names and passwords.

Once the TV or component is set up, you can move the router to any part of the home while maintaining the connection.

The CY-SWR1100 was designed to ensure superior streaming from your home network or online content.  It is a simultaneous dual-N band, 802.11 a/b/g/n- compatible router. It uses Priority QoS (Quality of Service).  This means that it will allocate the wifi signal so the TV receives more bandwidth than other devices, allowing for smooth, error-free streaming of high definition movies.

Samsung has beefed up this router to handle high definition. It can send up to 300 Mbps.  Compare this to a regular router at 54 Mbps or even the AV receivers at 200 Mbps.  The increased bandwidth further helps streaming high definition movies.

The CY-SWR1100 is compatible with LED TVs of the D5000 series and up, LCD TV s of the D550 series and up; Plasma TVs of the D550 series and up; Blu-ray Disc players of BD 6500 and up; and the HT-D6730W and HT-D7100 Blu-ray Home Theater systems.

With these kinds of features and specs, Samsung's Wireless home theater router might be a good solution for any home theater that is streaming media.  We'll have to see it will only work to maximized the Samsung networked home theater devices or if any home theater will benefit.  It is scheduled to be released in the first quarter of 2011, so we should know pretty soon.
