How to Program a Dish Network Receiver
- 1). Power on your television and your Dish Network receiver by using the universal remote that came with your equipment. Make sure that the television is tuned to the input to which your Dish Network receiver is connected. Once both are on, you will see either a program, a blank screen or the Dish Network menu.
- 2). Push the "Guide" button located in the center of your Dish Network remote. You will see all of the available channel options, with the channels you can watch highlighted in white and the channels to which you do subscribe highlighted in red. Press the "Guide" button to bring up the programming guide for your system. If you have not yet chosen a cable package, all of the channels in the guide will be red and you will not be able to watch anything.
- 3). Use your phone to dial 1-800-333-3474 to be connected to an agent who will help you choose a programing package and program your receiver accordingly. The person you talk to may ask you to press the "System Info" button on the front panel of your receiver, in order to access additional information regarding your device and service. Let the representative know what package you may already have and what channels you wish to gain access to, and he will provide you with prices and information on multiple products to choose from. When you have made a decision, the agent will remotely program your Dish Network receiver to allow you to view the new channels.
- 4). Press the "Guide" button again to return to the programming guide. If you do not see changes to the guide immediately, turn off your Dish Network receiver and wait a few moments before turning it back on. Within 15 minutes, you should be able to access the newly programmed channels through the programming guide. If this does not happen, or if channels you have not ordered appear in white and channels you did order are still red, call the 800 number again to alert an agent of the problem.
