    Connecting Audio

    • 1). Locate the optical or coaxial input on the back panel of your receiver. Only receivers with built-in Dolby Digital (DTS) feature these inputs. Locate the matching output on your DVD player.

    • 2). Choose one type of connection, optical or coaxial, but not both. Connect the DVD player to the receiver using either an optical or coaxial (RCA) cable. Go to Step 3 only if your DVD does not have digital outputs.

    • 3). Locate the "5.1 CH. Output" on the back panel of your DVD player. Connect the 3 left and right "Front" "Rear" "Center" outputs on the back panel of your DVD player to the matching inputs on the back panel of your receiver using RCA cables. If your DVD player does not have "5.1 CH Outputs" go to Step 4.

    • 4). Locate the right and left channels in the "Audio Out" output on the back of your receiver. Connect it to the "Audio In" on the back panel of your receiver using an RCA cable.

    Connecting Video

    • 1). Locate the "Component Video Out" on the back of your DVD player. These RCA outputs are color coded by a green port, blue port and red port. Ensure your receiver has these types of inputs as they are normally only found in high end receivers. Connect the two devices. Goto Step 2 if your DVD or receiver are not compatible with a component connection. This is the highest possible quality.

    • 2). Locate the "S-Video Out" on your DVD player. Locate the matching input on the receiver. Connect the two devices using a single s-video cord. Goto Step 3 if your DVD player or receiver does not support s-video.

    • 3). Locate "Video Out" 1 and 2 ports on your DVD player and the matching "Video In" ports on your receiver. Connect the two devices using an RCA cable.
