    • 1). Make sure you have turned on your Nuvi 250 if the device's screen is dark. Push the power button, located on the right side of the device.

    • 2). Charge the Nuvi 250's internal battery if it doesn't respond to any button presses, including pushing on the power button. Connect it to a computer, using a Garmin USB cable; to a power outlet, using a Garmin AC adapter; or to a car's internal power outlet or cigarette lighter, using Garmin's car charging cable.

    • 3). Wait to acquire a satellite signal if the Nuvi 250 can't pinpoint your location. Turn the device off, and step outside into an area that is free of tall buildings or dense tree cover. Turn the Nuvi on again, and wait for at least one green bar to appear in the signal symbol in the top left corner of the device's screen.

    • 4). Calibrate the Nuvi 250's touchscreen if it doesn't respond quickly to your finger or if it sometimes activates the wrong button or setting when you touch the screen. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds or until the screen turns white. Release the power button, and follow the on-screen prompts to calibrate the screen.

    • 5). Reset the Nuvi 250 if it continually freezes. Hold down the reset button, located on the bottom edge of the device, for 2 to 5 seconds.

    • 6). Restore the Nuvi 250 to return it to its original factory settings. This might clear any software-related glitches or problems, but it also deletes any customized settings or maps you have created. Tap "Tools" on the device's screen, and select "Settings." Scroll down, then push "System," then press "Restore." The restoring process will take several seconds.
