- 1). Call the customer service department of your current cellular service provider and request the unlock code for your Sony Ericsson K800i. In the United States, cellular service providers will generally give you the unlock code free of charge if you have an active account that is in good standing. You can also purchase unlock codes from companies that sell cellular phone unlocking codes (see Resources). Write down the unlock code.
- 2). Remove the SIM card from the Sony Ericsson K800i. The SIM card is located under the battery. Remove the back cover and battery from the phone and take the SIM card out of the SIM card holder. Replace the battery and back cover and power on the phone.
- 3). Press the "left arrow" button.
- 4). Press the "*" key twice.
- 5). Press the "left arrow" button. The message "Personalize with MNC2" will appear on the display of your phone.
- 6). Enter the unlock code you wrote down in Step 1. Your phone is now unlocked and will work with any GSM carrier's SIM card.
