- 1). Turn off the television, Z-5500 sound system and external HDMI devices.
- 2). Remove any protective caps covering both ends of the digital optical cable. Connect one end of the optical cable to the corresponding optical port found at the rear of the Z-5500's multimedia controller.
- 3). Connect the remaining end of the optical cable to the "TOSLINK" or "Optical Out" port, located at the rear of the television.
- 4). Connect each HDMI-equipped external device to the television, using the HDMI cables.
- 5). Turn on the television and navigate to the sound settings menu. Set the sound output option to "Optical only" or "TOSLINK." Refer to the documentation supplied with your television for specific instructions, if needed.
- 6). Turn on the sound system, followed by the external HDMI devices. Make the desired volume adjustments on the Z-5500's multimedia controller to finish the process.
