How to Knit a Border
- 1). Select the yarn you will be using for the border. If using a different yarn, try to select a yarn of a similar weight.
- 2). Use an appropriately sized knitting needle for your selected yarn. The circular cable must be long enough for the number of stitches necessary to make the border.
- 3). Begin at a corner by picking up stitches on all edges. The number of stitches picked up isn't important but make sure it is an even number on each side.
- 4). Knit the border using whatever stitch you prefer.
- 5). Knit the number of rows you desire your border to be.
- 6). Bind off in the normal fashion when your border is the size you desire.
- 7). Block your finished piece to make the corners square and the edges even.
