    Remove a Car CD Player

    • 1). Inspect your car's CD player. It can be held in place with screws and bolts, spring-mounted clips or trim pieces alone. Screws and bolts are easy to identify. Spring-mounted clips have two adjacent "buttons" that can only be released by DIN tools. Some specialized car CD players can be held in place with plastic components.

    • 2). Use a screwdriver to unfasten a car CD player if it is held in place by screws. Then gently pull the radio out and unplug any wires attached to the rear end of the player.

    • 3). Apply pressure on the spring-mounted clips if your car's CD player is held in place by clips. Such a CD player can be identified by two tiny adjacent "buttons." The U-shaped DIN tool's points are designed to simultaneously press down on these buttons, releasing the CD player from its dock. Again, pull it gently out of its dock and unplug any wires attached to the rear end of the player.

    • 4). Use your panel tool to gently pry away the plastic trim pieces if your car CD player is held in place with trim pieces. Apply light pressure and raise one side slightly before moving on to another side. Repeat the process until the trim pieces pop out of the player, and you should be able to pull it out without any problems.
