Rock & Roll Craft Ideas

Clothes

• For a basic rock star craft, use a tie-dye kit from your local craft or retail store. Use your favorite colors to make shirts, pants, gloves and scarves. Tear, rip and shred the shirts rock star-style. Print images of famous rock bands on iron-on decal sheets. Iron a decal on each shirt. Decorate the shirt with a variety of glitter pens and fabric markers. Rip off the shirt sleeves and creating fringe using scissors along the bottom of the shirt. Tie pony beads to the ends of the fringe.
  
  

Accessories

• Make rock star sunglasses and jewelry using a variety of supplies from your local craft store. For children, use a pair of basic star-shaped sunglasses. Use rhinestones, glitter, marabou, paint pens and glue to decorate the sunglasses. Write “Rock Star” on the side of the glasses using paint pens. Adults can use a large pair of sunglasses with the same craft supplies to make their own "Rock Star" glasses. Create bracelets, necklaces and anklets using elastic beading string. Slide beads like alphabet beads and pony beads onto the beading string to make jewelry. Use large star-shaped or guitar-shaped rhinestones for the center charms.
  
  

Musical Instruments

• Children can create an easy guitar by placing rubber bands around an empty tissue box. Make sure the rubber bands are over the hole. Another guitar idea is to cut a guitar shape out of cardboard and paint the guitar with acrylic paint. Tape rubber bands down the middle of the guitar to create the strings. Adults can use plywood to create guitars that would work perfectly as decorations for a rock-star party. Paint the plywood with acrylic paints and attach small rope to create the guitar strings. Make drums by taping thick plastic over the tops of a bowls. Use chopsticks as drumsticks. Create maracas using empty paper towel rolls or dried gourds. Fill the empty rolls with dry beans or rice and tape off the ends. Drill a hole in a dried gourd. Fill the gourd with rice or beans and tape off the hole.
  
  

Shoes

• For an easy shoe idea, take fabric markers and write “Rock” on the toe of one shoe and “Star” on the toe of the other shoe. Use basic white canvas tennis shoes for best results. Another idea is to draw a star on the toe end of both shoes. Paint the star with glitter and sprinkle with red or pink glitter. Shake off excess glitter. Paint the rest of the shoes with glue and cover with silver glitter.
