How to Make a Fabric Snowman
- 1). Lay the fabric on a work table and fold it in half.
- 2). Lay a dinner plate on the folded fabric. Use a marker to draw a circle around the plate. Remove the plate and lay the salad plate on the circle so that the bottom part of the plate overlaps 1 or 2 inches on the top of the circle marked. Draw a circle around the second plate with a marker as well. Remove the plate.
- 3). Use the marker to draw a side "U" on either side, outside and near the top, of the large circle for the hands of the snowman.
- 4). Insert straight pins around the inside edges to secure the two pieces of fabric snowman to keep them aligned. Cut the snowman out with scissors around the arms and around the two circles. Turn the fabric pieces right side in. Pin the fabric pieces again.
- 5). Straight stitch 1/4 inch inside the edges of the two fabric pieces, leaving a 3- or 4-inch opening at the bottom of the snowman. Turn it right side out using the closed point of scissors to poke the arms out. Press with a hot iron.
- 6). Fill the snowman with polyester filling, pushing in where necessary with the closed point of the scissors. When full, close the opening using a thread and needle and an overcast stitch.
- 7). Cut a long piece of decorative fabric with scissors and wrap around the neck of the snowman as a scarf. Add embellishments with a hot glue gun such as buttons for eyes, his nose and mouth.
