- 1). Visit a file converting website such as Zamzar, Media Convert or Movavi. Each of these websites allow you to convert a file to the format you need with a simple interface.
- 2). Click on File or the file browse box to select your file. A window will pop up allowing you to select the file from your computer. Once you find the file, select Open or Select and the window will close.
- 3). Choose the file formats. Some of these tools will ask you to tell them what format your file is in--this is AVI. All of them will ask you to select the file format you want the file converted to--in this case, MPEG.
- 4). Select any advanced options you need for your file conversion. Accept any terms the site requires, and press "OK," "Convert" or "Continue" to begin the compression of AVI to MPEG.
- 5). Download your MPEG video from the website once you are notified that the process is done. You may download it to the same folder you had originally saved the AVI file to.
