- 1). Turn off the device you want to program into the remote control. Manually turn it back on by pressing the "Power" button on the device.
- 2). Look up the remote control codes for electronic devices. If you don't have the user manual for the product codes you can look up the information at "ThompsonTV.com/RCARC.html." Look for the product name at the bottom of the screen.
- 3). Hold down the "Code Search" button on the RCA DVD remote control, then select either "TV," "VCR" or "Cable," depending on what device you want to program into the remote control.
- 4). Type in the first code number next to your brand name.
- 5). Release the "Code Search" button, then press the "Channel Up" button. If the device changes channels you have successfully programmed the device with the RCA DVD remote control. If not, retry the programming process, only this time with a different code. Often there are multiple device codes for one brand and not all codes function with the remote.
