    • 1). Position a sheet of 12 inch by 12 inch scrapbook paper flat on a hard surface with the design facing down. Lay a closed composition book over the paper and trace around it using a pencil.

    • 2). Flip the composition book over and trace the opposite side on a new sheet of paper. Cut out each tracing using scissors.

    • 3). Lay the composition book flat with the front facing up. Place several lines of double-sided tape around the edges of the book cover. Position the paper you cut in step one over one side of the book cover and press down to adhere the tape.

    • 4). Flip the composition book over and repeat step three to cover the back of the book.

    • 5). Cut a new sheet of paper to measure 2.75 inches wide by the length of your composition book to create a cover for the binding. Lay the paper sheet flat, with the designed side facing down, and place a line of double-sided tape along each edge and the center of the paper.

    • 6). Center the paper sheet over the binding on the composition book and press down along the center and then the outside edges of the paper to seal out any air bubbles.

    • 7). Use scrapbook supplies to decorate the cover of your homemade journal. Make a title using chipboard or die-cut letters and add embellishments like paper flowers, rhinestones or die-cut shapes.
