- 1). Download and install Garmin Communicator: Open a web browser on your personal computer and visit the Garmin site, garmin.com. Better yet, click on the link in the eHow resources section below to go straight to the Communicator uplink page. Download the Communicator program, following all onscreen instructions.
- 2). Connect your Nuvi personal navigation device to your computer using your Nuvi's USB cable.
- 3). Browse Garmin's voice downloads. Click your desired voice.
- 4). Click "Install Voice" from the resulting page. The "Garmin Communicator" plugin will install the voice automatically for you.
