- 1). Power down the laptop and turn off the HDTV.
- 2). Line up the plug on one end of the cable with the three rows of holes in the laptop port, which is usually on the back or left edge. Push the plug onto the port and lock it with the two screws on the plug.
- 3). Connect the other end of the cable to the port labeled "PC IN" on the backside or edge of the LCD TV.
- 4). Turn on the laptop and the TV.
- 5). Press the "F" key on the laptop printed with a monitor while pressing and holding the "Fn" button. This key combination changes the video display from the laptop to the TV. Each laptop model is different; for example, Dell laptops and notebooks use "Fn" and "F8," while Gateway laptops use "Fn" plus "F3" or "F8," depending on the model.
