- 1). Gather all your materials. Your binder, card stock and binder sleeves should all be the same size. For example, an 8x10 binder will hold 8x10 binder sleeves that are prepunched and the sleeves will each hold an 8x10 piece of card stock. The number of sleeves and pieces of card stock you will need will vary on how large you wish to make your scrapbook. Keep in mind that binders come in many different sizes from 1/4 inch to 5 inches deep and will hold a varying number of pages. You want to leave extra room in the binder so that it will close properly, so choose the depth carefully.
- 2). Pick up one piece of card stock and place on your work area. Create your page using the colored and patterned scrapbook paper, photographs, mementos and embellishments as you would any other scrapbook page. Try to keep the embellishments relatively flat so that it will slide easily into the sleeve. Glue everything into place.
- 3). Insert scrapbook page into binder sleeve. In most cases you will only be able to put one page into each sleeve. If the embellishments are flat enough, you may be able to insert two back to back pages. The sleeve comes complete with an area that is punched appropriately for your binder. Place the sleeve into the binder. Repeat until all your pages are complete and inserted into the binder.
- 4). Create your cover. Most binders include a clear plastic flap on the front cover where you can insert a cover page. Using another piece of card stock, create a scrapbook page that tells what this book is about. Keep it simple with flat embellishments. Insert the cover page behind the flap. There may also be a small clear flap that covers the binder edge. Cut a piece of card stock to fit the depth of the binder. Decorate it, being sure to include a title and date of your book, and carefully insert it into this flap. Once completed, your scrapbook will be easily identifiable when placed on any shelf.
