    • 1). Set up the XM home kit according to the directions. Make sure the antenna is in a window that is facing south and that the kit has power. Place the XM receiver in the kit and turn it on to make sure it has power and is receiving a signal.

    • 2). Place one end of the auxiliary cable into the "Audio Out" port on the receiver for the first solution. Place the other end into a "Audio In" port if your boom box has one. Turn the boom box on, and turn the volume up slowly to make sure the receiver is sending the sound to the player.

    • 3). Place the auxiliary end of the cassette tape playback cable into the "Audio Out" port of the receiver for the second way to complete this task. Place the cassette tape portion of the playback cable into the cassette portion of the boom box and close the compartment door. Set the boom box to the "Tape" setting and press "Play" on the cassette player portion of the boom box. The music should be coming from the speakers.

    • 4). Enter the menu function on your particular receiver to access the FM transmitter. (Read the directions on your receiver to learn how to access this). Many XM radios have a transmitter that will broadcast their signal over the airwaves to be picked up by a nearby radio. Turn the radio on the boom box on once the receiver is in the FM transmitting mode, and turn it to the FM frequency that the receiver is transmitting over. You should hear the XM signal from your speakers.
