- 1). Turn on your DMM and switch the toggle knob to the “Voltage” setting on the meter.
- 2). Test your DMM against a brand new 9V battery. Hold the red lead to the “+” terminal on the battery and hold the black lead to the “-“ terminal on the battery. Determine if the DMM is working properly by the readout on the display.
- 3). Change the toggle to the “SELFCAL” setting if the reading is less than 9V.
- 4). Hold the leads to the battery terminals and wait for the multimeter to read “9V” on the display. The meter is now calibrated.
