- 1). Line up your metal bed frame and your antique wooden headboard. Determine the location where the two should be attached for the best fit and the most stability. Mark this spot with a pencil on the wooden headboard.
- 2). Slide the headboard plate adapter into position and maneuver the headboard, frame and adapter until all three line up properly.
- 3). Attach the headboard plate adapter to the metal frame. Use a socket wrench to loosely attach the two pieces. Make sure that the nut is on the inside of the plate closest to the metal frame so it won’t interfere with the headboard. Leave some slack between the adapter and the frame.
- 4). Drill screws through the holes in the adapter plate into the pencil marks on your headboard. Securely attach the plate to the headboard.
- 5). Tighten the nuts and bolts attaching the adapter plate to the metal frame with the socket wrench.
