DIY Home Theater Screen Paint
- 1). Buy a quart of Pittsburgh Paints Bermuda Beige tinted flat enamel paint from a home improvement store. Ask the counter person in the paint section to mix the color for you. Purchase a small 8 oz. bottle of aluminum base paint from an auto parts store.
- 2). Prime the screen surface with a high quality white primer paint. Build up a single coat of the primer through the application of two or three thin layers using a low nap paint roller. Allow the primer to dry overnight before applying the screen paint.
- 3). Pour the two paints, the beige and the aluminum, into an empty pail. Mix the paints thoroughly using an electric drill with a paint mixing attachment. Combined, the two paints create 40 oz. of a neutral grey colored paint that removes color contamination from the light reflected from your screen and presents an accurate representation of the projected image.
- 4). Apply the screen paint over the primer with the low nap roller. Use multiple thin layers to build up a single coat of the screen paint. Allow the paint to dry overnight before use.
