- 1). Fill the bucket with a gallon of warm water. Add about 8 tbsp. of washing soda to the water.
- 2). Put on the gloves to protect your hands and wear a mask if that makes you feel more comfortable.
- 3). Scrub the mildewed window frame with the water/washing soda solution, using a sponge and a scrub brush if needed.
- 4). Rinse the frame with clean water. Rinse out the bucket and dry.
- 5). Dry the area with a wet/dry vac. You need to get the window frame completely dry to prevent new mildew growth.
- 6). Combine 1 cup of bleach with 1 gallon of water in the bucket. You can use vinegar instead if you'd prefer to avoid using bleach. Don't dilute the vinegar in water. Wipe the bleach solution or vinegar onto the window frame. Let it sit for 10 minutes to kill any germs. Rinse the bleach or vinegar away and dry the frame again.
