- 1). Insert the window crank removal tool between the back of the window crank and the door panel.
- 2). Push the tool toward the handle to disengage the spring clip. The spring will make a small popping sound when it disengages from the crank gear. It may be necessary to move the crank removal tool in different locations around the crank handle to find the ends of the spring clip.
- 3). Pull the window crank away from the door panel and place the spring clip in a safe location. The spring clip is necessary for reinstallation. There are also two backer washers on the back of the window crank.
- 4). Slide the spring clip over the groove on the back of the window crank to reinstall the crank. The spring has two bends that should protrude into the hollow cavity of the crank handle.
- 5). Position the hollow cavity of the crank handle over the window crank gear. Push the handle over the gear until the spring clip engages the gear securing the handle.
