How to Attach a Stud Directly to a Concrete Wall
- 1). Set the wood stud against the concrete wall. Use the level and either plumb (vertical alignment) or level (horizontal alignment) the stud. Hold the stud in place. Mark the edge position of the stud onto the concrete wall with the pencil.
- 2). Lay the stud on the floor. Face the stud with the surface upwards that will mate to the concrete wall. Apply a generous amount of the adhesive to the face of the wood stud.
- 3). Install the socket adapter into the chuck of the power drill. The size of the socket needs to match the head size of the wood-to-concrete screw fasteners. Some types of fasteners can be installed directly through the wooden stud and into the concrete wall. Other types may require a hole to be pre-drilled with a hammer drill.
- 4). Set the wood stud against the concrete wall, adhesive side mating to the concrete. If applicable, pre-drill the holes through the wooden stud and into the concrete wall using the hammer drill. The location and spacing of the holes will be dictated by the specifications of the wood-to-concrete screw fastener manufacturer.
- 5). Insert a wood-to-concrete screw fastener into the socket on the power drill. Begin at the top of the stud. Secure the stud to the wall with the screw fastener.
- 6). Check the stud for level or plumb, with the level. Install the next fastener with the power drill. Continue until the proper number of fasteners is installed.
- 7). Allow the adhesive to fully cure before attaching anything to the wood stud. Consult the adhesive specifications for drying and cure times.
