How to Seal Grout in a Shower Floor

    • 1). Combine equal parts bleach and water in a spray bottle, making enough to coat the shower floor (usually, 2 or 3 cups total).

    • 2). Spray the solution over the grout lines on the shower floor, soaking the lines completely.

    • 3). Let the bleach stay on the lines for three or four minutes. Scrub vigorously with an old toothbrush. Rinse the bleach off completely. Repeat the process if there are any remaining stains or discoloration on the grout.

    • 4). Allow the grout lines to dry for a full 48 hours after you’ve gotten any stains out. It must be completely dry before you proceed.

    • 5). Apply sealant to the the grout lines with the edge of a small paint brush. Starting at the end of one line, follow it all the way across the floor. Proceed to the next line. Keep the sealant only on the grout, using the edge of a damp cloth to wipe off any that gets on the tiles as you work.

    • 6). Seal the whole shower floor. Let it dry for four hours. Repeat the process two more times, layering each coat of sealant in the manner as the first one. Let the final layer set for 24 hours before using the shower.
