How to Install Aluminum Termination Bars on a Rubber Roof
- 1). Place an aluminum termination bar at the edge of the rubber roofing membrane where you want to secure it in place. Typical locations are at the top edge of a wall or on flat roofs where they suddenly slope upward at an angle.
- 2). Insert screws into each of the pre-drilled holes in the termination bar and secure the screws in place using a screwdriver. If the material underneath the rubber membrane is concrete, drill pilot holes using a drill and then insert masonry anchors rather than screws.
- 3). Insert any additional termination bars by butting the edge firmly up against the end of the first bar and inserting screws or anchors as done previously.
- 4). Fold back the excess rubber membrane over the termination bar and run a utility knife along the termination bar to trim it off.
- 5). Insert a roofing caulk tube into a caulk gun and squeeze the trigger to apply a thin bead of caulk along the termination bar where it meets the rubber roofing.
