    • 1). Measure 5 feet up from the floor and center your vanity mirror above the sink. This is the typical placement of a vanity mirror, but use your own judgment. Just make sure the mirror is easily accessible.

    • 2). Use a magnetic finder to locate the studs in the wall. Because of the weight of the vanity mirror, you'll need to hang it on studs. In most cases, the home builder has assumed you'll hang a vanity mirror above the sink and the studs should be in place, The magnetic finder will locate the nails or screws used to attach the drywall or plaster lath to the studs.

    • 3). Clip wire to the back of your mirror. The clips and wire will be included in your standard mirror accessory kit, along with the anchors. A clip should be placed on each side of the mirror and the wire is strung between them. This is how the mirror will be hung.

    • 4). Determine where to hang the anchors. Pull the wire tight and measure the space between it and the top of the mirror. For example, the space might be 5 inches. Decide where you want the top of your vanity mirror to be. You'll need to measure downward from that point the 5 inches you measured on the mirror. This is where the anchors will be hung.

    • 5). Install the anchors that will be used to hang the vanity mirror. The anchors will be found in the standard accessory kit. Use a minimum of two anchors, and screw them into the studs you found in the previous step.
