- 1). Position the door on a pair of sawhorses so that once cut, the two pieces of the door are supported. Make sure the cutting line on the door is free of obstructions.
- 2). Draw a line on the door where you need to cut. Use a straight edge and draw a straight line with a marker that offers a contrasting color to the door.
- 3). Place the base of the reciprocating saw on the top of the table and line the blade up with the line you scribed on the door.
- 4). Pull the trigger on the saw and hold it to keep the saw blade working in a reciprocating motion. Push the blade forward through the door at a slow pace. Maintain a steady speed as you follow the line scribed on the door. If necessary, have a second person hold the door steady while you cut.
