How to Replace the Door Boot Seal on an LG
- 1). Unplug the washing machine. Open the washer door. Wedge a flat-head screwdriver beneath the thin circular clamp that lies between the boot seal's ring and the washer drum. Pull the clamp free and remove it.
- 2). Reach inside the washer door. Depress the sides of the wire connector plugged into the door latch. Slide the wire connector free.
- 3). Open the pump filter cover located at the bottom left of the machine. Pull the drainage tube free of the plastic clip holding it in place.
- 4). Detach the mounting screw located in the center of the pump filter cover. Grab the housing by the plastic clip that originally held the drainage tube. Pull the filter cover away from the machine. Unscrew and remove the mounting screw located behind the filter cover in the center of the washing machine's lower front panel.
- 5). Detach the screws at the back of the machine that hold the washer's lid in place. Lift the top off the machine.
- 6). Remove the dispenser drawer located at the top left corner of the washer. Unscrew and remove the machine's front control panel. Unscrew and remove the washer face.
- 7). Loosen and push back the door boot's steam, circulation and drainage hose clamps with a pair of pliers. Slip the steam and circulation hoses off the door boot's hose ports. Pull the drainage port free from the drain tube.
- 8). Remove the tub boot clamp that holds the door boot over the washer's inner tub. Pull off the boot seal.
- 1). Remove the nozzle for the steam and circulation hoses from the old seal. Fit the nozzle into the new boot seal.
- 2). Pour a small amount of liquid dish detergent into the new boot seal's outer groove. Spread the dish detergent all the way around the circular groove with your finger. This lubricates the new seal.
- 3). Fit the new boot seal's grooved edge around the outer lip of the washer tub. Fit the tub boot clamp over the new boot seal. Push the boot clamp backward until it fits snugly inside the seal's grooved edge.
- 4). Connect the steam and circulation nozzles on the boot seal to the washer's steam and circulation hoses. Pull the hose clamps back down over the nozzles. Secure the clamps with pliers. Connect and secure the drain hose.
- 5). Fit the washing machine's front panel back onto the machine face. Screw it in place with the mounting screws you previously removed. Snap the washer's control panel into place above the front panel. Secure it with screws.
- 6). Push the dispenser drawer into the open space in the control panel. Slide the washer's lid back into place on top of the machine. Secure it with screws.
- 7). Reinsert the pump filter housing into the receptacle in the front panel of the washer. Screw it in place. Attach the drainage tube to the pump filter nozzle. Flip the pump filter cover shut.
- 8). Reattach the wire connector to the door latch.
- 9). Align the door boot clamp's spring with the bottom of the boot seal. Push the boot clamp over the lip of the boot seal into the narrow space between the boot seal and the inside door panel. Plug the LG washing machine back in.
