How to Kill White Clover in Winter

104 1
    • 1). Apply a post-emergent herbicide to the white clover plants in the early winter. Follow the directions on the package for application instructions. Wait the time instructed on the package for the herbicide to take effect, then hand-pull the clover plants out of the soil.

    • 2). Lay down six to eight layers of newspaper over the soil. This will block the sun from reaching the soil and will prevent the germination of any remaining white clover seeds.

    • 3). Cover the newspaper with a 3-inch layer of organic mulch. The mulch will hold the newspaper in place, and help it decompose by the spring planting season.
