  Not every home has a separate laundry room to house the washer and dryer. Putting these in the kitchen gives the washer access to the water line for the home, but such placement becomes noisy. Getting rid of loud laundry appliances may not be an option, but by using some measures to quiet your washer and dryer, you can keep the appliances anywhere without irritating your ears.

• Some of the noise from a washer and dryer comes from the vibrations the machine makes as it runs. Cut down on this vibration to damper the sound.
