How to Seal Concrete Steps
- 1). Clean the steps thoroughly. Sweep up loose dust, dirt and debris with a broom. Scrub the steps with hot, soapy water and a stiff scrub brush. Rinse the soap from the steps, then let the concrete dry thoroughly. If the steps are outdoors and you have access to a power washer, use it to clean the steps.
- 2). Stir the container of concrete sealer with a paint stirrer. Do not shake the container of sealer or air bubbles will form. Pour the sealer into a lined paint tray.
- 3). Dip a paint roller into the sealer. Roll a thin coat of the sealer onto the steps. Make sure when you remove the roller from the steps to get more sealer that you start rolling right next to the area that was last rolled. This will ensure no spot is missed. A paint brush can be used to apply the sealer to crevices and tight areas.
- 4). Let the sealer dry completely according to the manufacturer's instructions. Apply a second coat of sealer after the first one has completely dried.
