How to Do Framing for a Tub
- 1). Measure the length of the bottom of the tub to the sides. Cut 10 boards equaling this measurement minus 2 inches. Cut four boards the width of the tub minus 3 inches; cut four boards equaling the length of the tub.
- 2). Build a frame from the boards using galvanized nails. Make a bottom square from two side pieces and two end pieces. Place this inside the tub opening. Use shims to adjust the level of the frame until it is perfectly level.
- 3). Nail four of the side pieces per long side and two per short side of the frame. Nail the remaining four pieces of wood to the top of the side pieces. Nail the top frame to the wall studs.
- 4). Layer a waterproof barrier between the frame and the tub insert and proceed with the tub installation.
