How to Fit a Vinyl Floor
- 1). Divide the subfloor into four sections, laying two intersecting lines with your chalk snapline. Square the lines to each other by holding a t-square at the intersection as you lay the second one.
- 2). Apply tile adhesive across the intersection in the middle of the floor, with a notched trowel. Cover enough area to accommodate four tiles. You should be able to see the lines through the adhesive.
- 3). Lay four tiles in place at the intersection, pressing the edges of them tightly to each other.
- 4). Spread additional adhesive and lay additional tiles, building outward toward the edges of the room. Cut the tiles at the edges of the floor using a vinyl tile cutter.
- 5). Let the tiles set for one to two days before using the floor.
