Installation Instructions for Stainless Steel Over Drywall on Kitchen Walls
- 1). Measure the area you want to cover with stainless steel, using a measuring tape.
- 2). Turn off the power supply in your kitchen and remove all the outlets and switch covers in the area you'll install the stainless steel.
- 3). Make a paper or cardboard template for the area you will cover. Press the paper or the cardboard to the wall and mark all the places for outlets and switch covers. Outline the area with a pencil. Cut the template with scissors.
- 4). Clean the area of the kitchen wall where you want to install the stainless steel. Wipe the walls with a dry, clean cloth and clean the walls with a slightly damp sponge. Make sure that the kitchen wall is completely dry.
- 5). Slide a stud finder over your kitchen wall to find the studs. Mark their locations with a pencil.
- 6). Cover the work counter near the area where you will install the stainless-steel backsplash with thick cardboard. This will help you avoid getting the surface damaged by heavy tools or sharp edges of the stainless-steel sheets. Use duct tape or PVC tape to keep the cardboard in place.
- 7). Place the stainless-steel backsplash panel over your kitchen wall. Be careful to fit it exactly where it needs to be and to get all the switch and outlet holes into place. Attach the stainless-steel panels with screws through the pre-drilled holes on the sheets. Drill the holes where the wall studs are. Tighten the screws firmly after you insert them.
- 8). Apply a thin line of silicone caulk along the edge of the backsplash to seal it.
