If your reading this article, I'm going to assume you've tried quite a few diets out there.
And I'm also going to assume that you have discovered (the hard way) that something is wrong.
There is just something not working with the whole 'diet game' true? In this short article, I'd like to give you the top 3 reasons that I believe are responsible for the extra baggage you carry around.
But before I give you the reasons, I just need to get something off my chest first.
You may of heard this many times before, but you need to STOP thinking of eating well as 'dieting'.
It was only when that point clicked in my brain that I had any real success with my body.
Believe me, if every time you start 'eating healthy' - you associate that with 'being on a diet', you may as well kiss you chances of burning your fat goodbye.
Seriously...
Ok, let's get to the 3 reasons shall we? 1.
Reason number 1 is understanding what happens to food once it enters your body.
You must understand that not everything that goes into you body reacts the same way.
We have 3 main nutrients - protein, carbs, and fat right? But then we also have the properties of these foods.
You know...
whether or not that carb is a low GI or high Gi for example.
Whether that protein source will be absorbed rapidly or slowly by your body.
Or whether that fat source is high in saturated fat, trans fats, and corn syrup (which is a recipe for rapid fat gain by the way).
So the first reason, is that people don't pay attention to how foods will react with their bodies once they hammer it down...
2.
Reason number 2 goes hand in hand with reason 1.
You see it's not enough knowing how food, it's ingredients and it's properties will react, you also need to know how they will react at different TIMES.
So how you must understand nutrient timing.
And we all know the basics of this concept like for example we shouldn't eat sugary foods before we sleep because it has more chance of being stored as fat when done repetitively.
But there are many other examples.
Let me give you one...
I'm not saying carbs are the problem for why most people carry around more fat than they would like, but carbohydrates are many times consumed at the wrong times.
You see, the only time your body really NEEDS carbs is when your muscle glycogen stores are low or empty.
However when you eat carbs, especially ones that contain high amounts of sugar...
your blood sugar spikes, insulin is released and your body needs to transport that extra energy SOMEWHERE doesn't it? Get the picture? You're glycogen stores are usually low when you wake up, after you exercise, or after long hours of not eating.
But NOT after you just ate dinner! 3.
Many diets concentrate on the quantity of foods, rather than the quality.
There is some logic to this because the only way to lose weight is to be in a calorie deficit.
However what they don't focus on many times is the actual FOODS you are putting into your body.
When you repetitively eat foods that are not designed to enter the body, your liver (which is your fat burning machine) becomes congested and fat loss slows and after a while STOPS.
Bottom line: eat wholesome & nutritious foods MOST of the time.
Well, I hope you have enjoyed this article on the 3 reasons why you haven't succeeded on popular diets in the past.
