How to Make Miniature Bows With Ribbon

104 1
    • 1). Cut a strip from your cardboard about 1 inch wide and 4 inches long. Cut a slit about 1/4 of an inch wide and 2 inches long on one narrow end of the strip. This creates the tool for you to make your bows.

    • 2). Snip a piece of ribbon about 3 to 4 inches long. Ribbons 1/2 to 1/4 of an inch wide work best for this. Slide the ribbon under the cardboard strip so you can see some of it through the slit. Wrap the right side of the ribbon over the front of the slit at a slight downward angle, then the left side.

    • 3). Secure the ribbons with clothespins. Cut a 5-inch length of embroidery thread the same color as your ribbon. Slip it through the slit in the cardboard under the ribbon, then wrap it around the ribbon suspended on both sides of the slit so the ribbon gathers in the center.

    • 4). Tie the embroidery thread in a double knot at the back of the cardboard. Remove the clothespins and slip the new ribbon up and off of the cardboard. Smear a dot or two of glue across a child's undecorated hair clip, and stick the bow to it. Allow it to dry overnight for best results.
