How to Cut Tiles With a Right-Angle Grinder
- 1). Mark the tile with a pencil on both the front and back surfaces where you need to make the cuts. The grinder cannot cut straight through a tile from one side; you will need to cut both sides of the tile.
- 2). Clamp the tile, face up, to a flat work surface. Install a diamond blade in the angle grinder to help power through the tile.
- 3). Turn on the grinder and line up the spinning blade with the pencil marks. Lower the blade onto the tile and cut 1/8 to 1/4 of the way through, scoring the surface.
- 4). Unclamp the tile, turn it over, and clamp it onto the table face down. Turn on the grinder and cut along the pencil lines from the backside of the tile until the tile has been cut through.
